Carrie and Devin are The Best Friends competing in Total Drama's The Ridonculous Race.

Team[]

Best friends since early childhood, Devin and Carrie make a great team. But Carrie has a secret that Devin doesn’t know about. She has an enormous crush on him, and has for a very long time. She wants to tell him, but she is too scared because Devin already has a girlfriend.

Will they ever be something more to each other? Will the secret Carrie has been keeping from Devin ruin their chances at taking home the prize?

Physical Appearance[]

Devin is an Asian-Canadian. He is tall and somewhat muscular. He has spiky hair and small hairs on his chin. He has a string tied around his neck, meant to be a choker necklace. He wears a green shirt with a blue power button sign on it. He also wears baggy jeans with black and white sneakers. His bathing suit is a pair of green and blue swim trunks.

Carrie appears to be somewhat curvy. She has large black eyes and wavy blonde hair. She wears a teal shirt and a dark-ish green sweater over it. She wears light blue jeans with shoes similar to Devin's. Her bathing suit is a one-piece light green suit.

Season 1[]

Race History[]

In None Down Eighteen to Go, Devin and Carrie are introduced and are in first place throughout the episode. They make steady progress with each-other (getting clues, remaining trustworthy). Evidently, Devin is oblivious to Carrie's crush on him (even though he has a girlfriend), Carrie gets excited at a hug or some physical contact with Devin. They take the elevator in the Either-Or and she makes sure to coax him through his fear of falling (though they are momentarily taken over by Pete and Gerry) and this helps them get on Flight 1 to Morocco.

They were the first team in the race to come in First Place.

Relationship with Other Teams 4 Place In The Race[]

Carrie appears to have made many friends in the race. She is good friends with Kitty and Emma, the team known as The Sisters, and Ryan, the on-and-off boyfriend of Stephanie, who are in a team together called The Daters (or Haters). Her platonic relationship with Ryan caused Devin and Stephanie to get somewhat jealous.

Memorable Moments[]

  • Carrie coaxing Devin through his fear of falling. Ironically, the team is later eliminated due to Devin falling.
  • Carrie admits her crush on Devin, although in her first attempt he completely ignores this and fails to comprehend.
  • Devin says they'll be friends forever, putting Carrie more in the friend-zone.
  • Devin's Girlfriend at the time Shelly breaking up with him over the phone in Australia, which Carrie sees as an opportunity to help Devin get over Shelley (whom she clearly dislikes, mainly for her being Devin’s girlfriend and poor treatment of him).
  • In episode 19, Carrie convinces herself to get over Devin believing that he'll never reciprocate her feelings. However, Devin soon realizes that he's fallen in love with Carrie after she goes missing during their challenge. When he tries to confess, Carrie blows him off in the same way he did to her whenever she tried to confess.
  • Ever since Las Vegas, Devin has constantly tried to impress Carrie to get her to return his feelings, but each of his attempts either backfire to the point of Carrie further distancing herself from him or costing them challenges (and physical health).
  • Shelley breaks up with Devin in Shawshank Redemption.
  • In Episode 22 “How Deep Is Your Love,” Devin attempts to confess to Carrie again, only for him to rephrase the words “I love you” into “I love utensils,” ruining the romantic mood.
  • Devin remarks in “Darjeel With It” that Carrie could not understand what he was going through when trying to confess to her, completely ironically and obliviously unaware of the fact that she went through the same process. In the same episode, he is finally informed that Carrie has been pursuing him since the first episode, much to his shock and happiness.
  • In "Last Tango in Buenos Aires," Devin finally admits his feelings for Carrie, to which Carrie returns, and they share their first kiss.
  • Devin and Carrie sit next to each other and cheer when the Police Cadets/Surfers reach the carpet of completion.

Appearance[]

Trivia[]

  • Devin had a girlfriend named Shelley, who broke up with him in episode 13. However, it is clear that Shelley is not particularly kind to him, since whenever she is mentioned, Devin remembers the parts of their relationship that were not healthy but does not realize their bad qualities, example being when she once locked him outside in the cold (which he gained frostbite from) simply because he got her the wrong coffee, which Devin shrugs off. Carrie also alludes to Shelley’s poor treatment of Devin, and hints that she and Shelley are not on good terms, considering the fact that Carrie is aware of Shelley’s abuse in her and Devin’s relationship and was not particularly upset with the fact that she was basically stealing Devin from Shelley (although ironically Shelley broke up with Devin before Carrie could make any romantic progress with him, however it is possible that she heard Carrie’s comments on TV and broke up with Devin because of this).
  • It is revealed that Devin is allergic to chilli peppers in episode 21.

Friends[]

Dwayne & Junior

The Father and Son Team occasionally converse with the Best Friends as friendly contestants, but not all the time. Junior has a major crush on Carrie, which she (for obvious reasons) does not return, although she is still rather friendly towards him. The Best Friends were willing to help Junior after he was separated from his father, showing they do not put winning above helping other contestants in need. However, Junior was mainly interested in getting closer to Carrie and even asked Devin if he was cool with him (Junior) pursuing Carrie after revealing his attraction towards her, only for Devin to let Junior down gently that his age was a problem for Carrie, but gives words of encouragement to wait for a few more years and Carrie “might” change her mind, much to Junior’s oblivious happiness. The two teams do not interact much (if at all) again afterwards, especially since Father and Son were eliminated a few episodes later.

Geoff & Brody

While the two teams don’t interact with each other personally, they are on amicable terms with each other and don’t let the competition get in the way of this. However, they formed an tri-alliance in the Can Tho River Challenge with the Sisters included, although while the Surfers were ecstatic and loyal to the merging, both the Best Friends and Sisters doubted staying in such an alliance, although the Surfers were oblivious to this. But when the Surfers sacrificed their win for the Best Friends, this prompted the recently eliminated Carrie and Devin to stick to their previous alliance and have the Surfers take their place in the race.

Crimson & Ennui

Due to the Best Friends’ more cheery nature, the Goths naturally do not interact much with them, although it can be assumed that the Best Friends had the same views the other contestants had on the Goths before officially interacting with them. Both Carrie and Devin tried being friendly with them by complimenting Crimson’s “de-gothed” appearance, although this attempt at friendliness backfired when Crimson was unable to take the compliment. After Devin reached the stage of Depression during his heartbreak process, he attracted the Goths’ attention with his newfound gloomy nature, although they didn’t form any alliances like previously thought that day out of disinterest (that and they knew that Carrie was less likely going to change her demeanor unlike Devin). While Carrie did not mind this, she was still slightly disappointed I’m at the loss of potential allies. Eventually they stopped interacting all together.

Ryan

Ryan officially became acquainted with the Best Friends in the Mexican Pepper Challenge, specifically Carrie. The two became friends on top of the ledge, as Ryan and Carrie were willing to listen to each other’s romantic problems. Despite their entirely platonic relationship, both Devin (especially Devin) and Stephanie grew jealous mistaking their friendliness for flirting, which Carrie was oblivious to whereas Ryan was aware of the effect of him interacting with Carrie (the reasons for this was both to annoy Stephanie and genuinely out of friendly interest in Carrie). While both Ryan and Carrie expressed interest in allying with each other, neither Devin nor Stephanie were willing to open up to the concept.

Kitty & Emma

The Sisters and Best Friends got along fairly well, with Kitty being supportive and optimistic of Carrie‘s attempts to pursue Devin romantically, resulting in a small friendship between the girls. Although not allies in the right sense, both teams remain friendly to each other (mostly with Kitty due to Emma’s cold nature) in the competition and are willing to help out when needed. When they formed a tri-alliance with the Surfers, both teams were uneasy about continuing the alliance and grew slightly doubtful that the other team would help out in the end. When Devin reveals his romantic feelings for Carrie to the Sisters, both Emma and Kitty are shocked and angry at him for his previous treatment of Carrie and obliviousness to her feelings, angrily slapping him before telling him of Carrie’s feelings. Despite these small setbacks, neither of the teams hold hostility towards the other and remain friendly even after the race. However, tensions rose when they battled in Argentina for last place, only for the Best Friends to win, much to the Sisters’ disappointment. But before Don could announce that it was a non-elimination round, Kitty’s unstable emu accidentally rammed Devin off a cliff, resulting in injuries that forced the Best Friends to leave the race, much to Kitty’s immense guilt. The Sisters still missed the Best Friends and still felt guilty about their role in the elimination process, with Kitty reminding Emma of their friendship with them before apologizing to them onscreen, although Emma was not as apologetic as Kitty, hinting she didn’t value her friendship with Carrie and Devin as much as Kitty did, which wouldn’t be surprising considering the fact that it was mainly Kitty the Best Friends bonded with the most.
